Breakfast is the most important meal

07/11/2025

When pressed for time, breakfast is often the first thing to go – am I right? I know I am certainly guilty of this and by the time it gets to lunchtime, I am absolutely RAVENOUS. But I don’t think I’m alone in this, I mean, how many of us eat whilst on the run? Or gladly exchange a bowl of cereal, a couple of slices of toast or a pastry because it’s convenient? Yet, the clue for why breakfast is supposed to be important is in its name: we’re advised to eat it to break our overnight fast. Also, breakfast can be one of the most delicious meals to enjoy eating out. Whilst many of us naturally migrate towards date night dinners or working suppers, there is something to be said for a romantic breakfast date or a working brunch (and you’re not in bed late!)

If you haven’t yet tried them, two of our wonderful sites serve breakfast seven days a week, The olde coach house in Ashby St Ledgers and The George Inn at Brailes. No matter what you’re craving, The George Inn has you covered. There’s a good old fashioned full English, Eggs Royale and a Mexican Omelette on offer – and that’s just to name a few. That’s right, these days pubs are not just home to a traditional fry up (although we love it and would never let it escape our menu), but also the ubiquitous smashed avocado on toast and eggs Florentine with hollandaise sauce. The George starts serving breakfast from 8am, whilst the coach starts a little later at 9am. The Bell Inn, The Sun Inn and The Castle all serve breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

I would love to hear from you about what your favourite breakfast dishes are and some of your favourite breakfast spots. I’m always open to suggestions!

Big Love

Mark
