Wedding Shoot at Castle Edgehill

On Monday 24 th February, our wonderful team and our talented wedding suppliers, came together in order to bring our beautiful wedding venue to life. The Castle wedding planner, Katie, put together this creative wedding shoot for our new 2020 wedding brochures – she closely followed the happenings on the day so that we could share this magical moment with you all. Are you getting married in 2021/2022? This one is for you!

Bride and Groom: Our very own Larissa and Dariusz
Styling: Castle at Edgehill wedding planner, Katie
Photography: Sam Bennet
Hair and Make-up: Frankie Rose
Jewellery: Kate McAngus designs
Dress – 21 Dresses
Crockery, Cutlery and Glass wear: Top Table Hire
Florist: Meadow Dreams
Stationary: Banbury Print
Table and Wooden Name places – GP Marquees
Cake – Cakes by Kit

The Styling
The vision for the shoot came from the history of the building itself. The Castle at Edgehill is a licensed 17 th century building as such, the historical influences seemed like the perfect inspiration for our beautiful spring wedding, our colour palette was navy, gold and blush. The main table, set up in the glasshouse, was a beautiful, long oak table with bench seats. This was tastefully decorated with a runner of candles, flowers and sprayed gold foliage – it was important to us that the natural beauty of the oak was exposed, hence the decision not to use a table cloth. Each place setting comprised of a gold starter plate, navy napkin and white dinner plate, accompanied by clear wine glasses and blue water glasses. You would never believe it, but many of the items used throughout this shoot were purchased from high street shops! Not only was the shoot contemporary and stylish, but budget friendly also.

The Venue
Set on the border of Oxfordshire and Warwickshire, The Castle at Edgehill is a beautiful 17 th century venue fully equipped with a private garden and terrace. We are fully licensed for civil ceremonies and partnership catering for ceremonies – we can also accommodate wedding breakfasts with up to 48 guests and 150 for the main reception. Exclusive hire of the castle and grounds gives you from 10am on the day of the wedding until 10am the following morning – includes our four bedrooms with breakfast in the glass house.

The Photographer
Sam Bennett photography was perfect for this shoot – with his natural and laid-back style, he made our models feel relaxed and comfortable, whilst getting those all-important ‘forever’ shots.

Hair and Make-up
We were super excited to be joined by Frankie from ‘Make-up for weddings by Frankie Rose.’ Frankie is very local to The Castle at Edgehill and Larissa, our lovely bride, looked truly beautiful.

We were joined by Lisa from Meadow Dreams, who put together a hand-tied bouquet, buttonhole and centre pieces for the table – she used a mix of blush coloured flowers and sprayed gold foliage. Lisa is wonderful to work with and has a real talent – thank you Lisa!

21 Dresses
21 Dresses have a fantastic range of bridal and bridesmaid dresses, suitable for all shapes and sizes. Jo kindly lent us a stunning gown, hoop and shrug. The Groom wore his own blue suit – we provided him with a new shirt and tie.

MacAgnus Designs
Kate MacAgnus of MacAgnus designs, makes bespoke jewellery from unique and special engagement rings to wedding rings. MacAgnus designs will help you with creating forever pieces for your special day. Kate lent us a stunning blue necklace, earring and a beautiful ring.

Top Table Hire
We have worked alongside Hayley at Top Table for several years. They supplied all the crockery, cutlery, glassware and linen. As always, nothing is too much trouble for these guys – especially when it comes to last minute panics!

GP Marquees
We use Nick at GP Marquees for larger wedding receptions when outdoor structures are required, they also have beautiful, wooden, oak tables and bench seats which were perfect for this shoot.

Cakes by Kit
Karen at Cakes by Kit believes in making your wedding cake not only look amazing but taste great too. The shoot cake was made to match our colour scheme as well as the florals.

If you like lager, you’ll LOVE Purity Lawless!

We absolutely love sourcing local produce and supporting smaller, local business – this is a fundamental part of what we do.

We started supplying Purity (a Warwickshire based brewery) ‘Mad Goose’ and it was so popular, we have decided to introduce cans of purity lawless over at The Red Lion in Hellidon (Because we’re trendy like that!)

Lawless follows the 500- year-old Bavarian brewing law to achieve traditional purity using only four ingredients.

Pilgrim, El Dorado and Styrian Goldings hops. With Pilsner Malt, Wheat Malt, Caragold, lager yeast and our own mineral rich local water.

Coolly lagered for 40 days & a dash of hops for a sharp, citrusy kick.

Lawless Lager is best served with spicy foods, tempura dishes and smoked or cured meats. The perfect accompaniment to Pot roasted cod, chick peas and chorizo.
