I don’t think it’s any secret that in recent years, there has been a lot more focus around wellness and sobriety which (lets be honest) is damaging to the pub and club industry.
We have seen a recent shift in drinking culture, some of which has been replaced by coffee culture. For lots of people, late nights and lots of alcohol just doesn’t hold the same appeal that it used to, with many of the younger generation opting not to drink at all. This is where I want to talk about coffee raves (I know, it really is a thing though!) Has anyone heard of coffee raves? Or had the opportunity to experience one? Well, these daytime, alcohol-free parties combine music with coffee culture and apparently, they are proliferating across the globe. Club culture is in decline; over the last five years, more than a third of British nightclubs have closed due to rising costs, less disposable income and changing lifestyle choices. With no drinking restrictions and more sociable set times, coffee raves are fostering a deeper connection between younger speciality coffee drinkers and cafes (or so I’ve heard).
It has just got me wondering, is there something to this? Or is it a passing trend? I’ve been wondering if a coffee rave is something that we should try? The House in Leamington Spa would be the perfect spot for something like this. What I want to know is, is this something that would interest YOU? If so, why? If not, why not? This week is a bit about market research.
Something else that has grown increasingly more popular in recent years, is running. Running was often seen by many as a solitary sport – just you, your shoes and the route ahead. But in recent times, it seems that something has shifted. Across towns and cities especially, there’s been a surge in the number of running clubs that have formed and are bringing people together to run as one. I want to put the same questions that I put to you above. Are running clubs of interest to you? If we were to organise something like this across our sites, would you see the appeal? Or would it be a firm no?
I’m very interested to hear your thoughts this week folks, so please be sure to email me.
Big Love
Mark
