Freespirit Pubs

Greater Graft, Greater Reward

05/09/2025

Opening a new site is no easy feat (trust me, I should know). But underneath the chaos, the graft and the hard work – excitement and anticipation are beginning to set in. Brailes is a quaint, characterful village and I believe The George Inn (https://thegeorgeatbrailes.co.uk/) has the potential to become a charming country pub which will continue to entice guests back, again and again.

The George Inn at Brailes is a historic, Grade II listed coaching Inn with a building dating from late 16th or early 17th century. It was operating as a public house by 1806 and continues to be a fixture in the villages Medeival area.

Behind the scenes, the Freespirit team having been working hard over at The George, scrubbing floors, moving furniture, sanding tables – you name it, there really is no time to waste! I am super proud of what the team have achieved over the last couple of days – they have blown me away with how much can be done in such a small space of time. That said, there is still A LOT to do, and we will, without a shadow of a doubt, face a number of teething problems in our first few months– as is to be expected with the opening of a new site!

Whilst this can feel daunting, especially when we don’t know what those teething issues may be, I don’t want this to overshadow the fun and joyful experiences which lie ahead. As I have said to the team recently, it is so important to keep the faith, hold on to your sense of humour and take each day as it comes. I have no doubt that this project will require some digging deep, but with graft and hard work, comes a greater reward.

We are so excited to breathe some life back into this fantastic site and I would love to hear your thoughts on what you would like to see there.

Big Love

Mark
